In the fight against cancer and other chronic illness, we must not forget to support courageous people who are battling these diseases every day.

Our Mission

Cruising for Cancer is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing cancer patients and others patients with chronic illnesses fun experiences and support during their battles.

“This is where the chronically ill reside. Their life attitudes have pivoted to making each day about fighting. About living. About connecting. It is vital that we support the research and science to rid them of their ailments, and equally as vital that we support them individually, live every day.”

— Susan Turnage

Our Story

Hi, my name is Nick. In July of 2020 my life as I knew it was over when I found out that I had stage 4 colon cancer. When my doctor told me I had a 10% chance of beating it, I decided to make every day as enjoyable as possible. I liquidated my 401k and drove 8 hours to Pennsylvania where I purchased my 2011 Shelby GT500, which I named 'The Chemo Cab". I figured if I was going to have to drive hours and hours to appointments, I might as well have as much fun as possible doing so. Since I was diagnosed, I have used this car to spread awareness and also take other patients that I've met along the way out for a cruise. There is something exhilarating about driving in a race car around that makes one completely forget about all the stress that comes along with a cancer diagnoses. To help others experience this same feeling I decided to set up Cruising for Cancer, an organization dedicated to providing cancer patients hope and joy during the toughest time of their lives.

My goal is to provide a peer to peer cancer support group for other patients that don't have the support that is necessary. Whether it's riding to the grocery store, getting a massage, riding to chemo appointments, or just cruising around town I hope to give cancer patients a break from the stressful life that a cancer diagnosis can bring. This organization will be focusing on the patients currently going through treatment or patients that are on hospice. This is just the beginning, so I'm hoping we can make a small impact in the central Virginia area. The more money we can raise the more people we can help, so please join us in changing the lives of so many people effected by cancer and other chronic illnesses!
